Thousands of people attended the annual celebration of labor at a huge picnic on Harriet Island in St. Paul MN.  The event ended with a rousing speech by the Democratic Vice Presidential Candidate John Edwards

Garrison Keiler led the crowd, singing “America the Beautiful”

Former Vice President Walter Mondale

Several labor leaders, local officials, and national celebrities were on hand to give speeches and encourage political participation.  The crowd and the speakers were diverse and unified by the common goal of defeating the Bush/Cheney ticket in November.
